Stewardship-Driven Tax and Accounting
Nathan's thoughts:
I've always thought this was an interesting story. Not just because it's about money and I'm a money guy. It speaks to me more about getting out of my comfort zone and not being afraid to take risks. It can be too easy for me, as an accountant, to 'play it safe' all of the time. This story reminds me that a full life isn't lived surrounded in bubble wrap. If you haven't seen the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, I'd recommend you watch it. You'll see why it's one of my favorite movies of all time.
Secondly, this parable reminds me to always do the best with what I have. We are all dealt different hands in life and no one benefits or improves by comparing hands and complaining about what's fair or not. But what does work is investing what we have wisely and multiplying it. Life gives you lemons, make lemonade (or if it's limes, make margaritas!). Not only does this apply to our finances, but in other areas of life like our spiritual life, marriage, family, friendships, career, etc. The grass is greener where you water it.
